This building houses a care center for mentally disabled women. They will take care of some until they pass away. It has no hot water in the bathroom for showers or baths. If they have hot water it is because they heat it up on a stove and take the water to the bathroom. So they have asked to get a water heater in the shower room for the winter. They also need tables and chairs for the lunch room and a new cabinet without glass to hold their library of books in. We hope to get the water heater before winter.Elder and Sister Burr
Mission Experiences
Second Mission
We will be serving in the Seoul South Korea mission for two years. We will be posting our experiences below.
First Mission
Hello to all our family and friends visiting this Blog. We are excited about our mission to Kharkov Ukraine. We are in the Donetsk Mission as Humanitarian/Welfare missionaries. Half of our time will be spent helping members with employment. We are also taking Russian lessons from a little Ukrainian girl twice a week. Our brains seem to be a bit scrambled but we are enjoying the process. Keep tuned in and we will keep you updated on what's happening. We are loving it here in Ukraine and we love the people. What a great experience.Sunday, August 29, 2010

This is a project with a care center that takes care of handicapped children starting from about age four to about 30. They treated us very well and had the kids come and do a dance for us and it was really nice and they did a very good job. One of the kids called out before the program started and said to Elder Burr, "hey, I know you". I hear that a lot over here, I think it is because I have a generic face. Their dance was fun to watch. They were very animated. They are asking for beds as some of the kids because of their illness have to take several rests each day. The beds are special and cost a little more as they are beds that are pleasant to look at and make the children happier to be there in bed. They also asked for school desks to study on. They teach them to do arts and crafts of which some of them do a very good job in their arts and crafts. They also teach them, as much as possible, to be self-reliant.
This is a picture of little children at a facility that takes care of mental and physical handicapped children from birth to four years old. It is a well organized care center and the staff when possible go to America to discuss cases of children and have American doctors help figure out what they can do for each child. They have asked for and it has been approved to get an internet line into the facility. Right now there is not a line very close to them. It also has been approved to buy a computer and a big screen TV and camera to set up Skype so they can show the children to Doctors anywhere in the world to get the help they need for each child. It will serve many more children and other hospitals will be able to use it also which will help even more children. We should have the equipment installed in a few weeks and we can post what it looks like and we will also have a closing on it.
