Elder and Sister Burr

Mission Experiences

Second Mission
We will be serving in the Seoul South Korea mission for two years. We will be posting our experiences below.

First Mission
Hello to all our family and friends visiting this Blog. We are excited about our mission to Kharkov Ukraine. We are in the Donetsk Mission as Humanitarian/Welfare missionaries. Half of our time will be spent helping members with employment. We are also taking Russian lessons from a little Ukrainian girl twice a week. Our brains seem to be a bit scrambled but we are enjoying the process. Keep tuned in and we will keep you updated on what's happening. We are loving it here in Ukraine and we love the people. What a great experience.

This is a sample of a beautiful old building in the area. There are many like it in the city.
This is tipical with the conditions of the sidewalks here. We do witness some repairs on sidewalks but in some places the sidewalks are just dirt paths. The streets are prett much the same.
Here is a little broom we have to sweep the cement outside. It remined us of a story in the mission home about a village that when thy got old were all bent over because of these little brooms and the challange it was to teach them to use long handles for their brooms.

This is Natasha. She is teaching Sister Burr to cook Borsh. It is a favorit dish here in Ukraine. Kind of a vegtable soup. It was a lot of soup but the Missionaries were over to help with it's consumption.

This is Elder Smith (left) and Elder Wadsworth and us. They are Zone leaders and were assigned to get as acquainted with the bus system and get used to the store to buy supplies. They were a great help and are really great Elders.
This is our mission president and his wife along with us. They picked us up at the airport and had to wait an hour while we passed customs. Nice people. They live in Donetsk which is about a five hour train ride from here.

This is our cute little kitchen. A fridge about half the normal size and a sink about fourth size and a half size stove that I might be able to get a small turkey in and a half size washing machine and no dryer. The dryer is leaning up against the fridge if you can see it.
I will post more in a few days when we get more capacity on our computer as it is not set up right yet. Just wanted you to know we are trying to move things along.

This is the group of senior missionaries we went through the MTC with. They are going to all different parts of the world. One couple is going to a place where they can't even have the church's name on there name tag.
